From the moment you turn onto the private driveway, you can sense the loving care that is lavished upon this charming farmhouse by its owners. Flowers are everywhere, from the huge bank of hortensias that greet you at the property's edge to the multitude of rose bushes, lavender beds and lemon trees that have been tucked into perfect settings throughout the property. Olive and fruit trees surround the house. Only 15 minutes from the walled city of Lucca, the farmhouse is set in peaceful wooded seclusion but because of its location, it commands magnificent views of the surrounding hills and the Lucca Valley.
The outside of this house -- the panorama, the pool, the grounds, the gardens, the dining areas -- are absolutely spectacular. The pool is set perfectly into the landscape. There are many outside areas for guests to enjoy -- a covered terrace to the side of the house; a sunny open terrace off the kitchen that is perfect for an outdoor breakfast; a raised terrace and wisteria-covered pergola that overlooks the pool area and the entire Lucca Valley; the flat and grass-carpeted pool level with its own spectacular view of the surrounding mountains and valley. Each evening the soft air, the subtle fragrances of the gardens and the magic show of lights from the city below will all conspire to keep you sitting outside far into the night.
The Farmhouse itself dates back to 1830 and has been meticulously restored and updated. It features original beamed ceilings and antique terracotta floors but all the modern comforts and conveniences have been added. Beautiful tuscan colors and fabrics adorn the walls and furniture in a most stylish way and all the rooms are designed for comfort as the above photos of the cozy den with fireplace and entry area show.
A wall of books enhances the charm of the open and airy living room which features a fireplace, satellite TV and stereo. The large dining room is beautifully furnished with antiques and wonderful ceramic plate collections decorate the walls. It seats 8 comfortably.
